Job Summary
The POS Staff member is responsible for assisting customers at various points of service in a business. Whether at the register, customer service desk, or on the floor, the POS Staff member ensures all customer inquiries are answered, transactions are processed accurately, and customers receive the highest level of service. They will handle transactions, provide information about products or services, and ensure the environment remains organized and welcoming.
Job Description
Customer Interaction:
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Address customer inquiries and provide information about products, services, or store policies.
- Offer product recommendations or upsell based on customer needs or inquiries.
- Handle customer complaints or issues, escalating them to management when necessary for resolution.
Transaction Management:
- Accurately process payments, including cash, credit/debit cards, and digital payments, ensuring correct amounts and change.
- Operate point-of-service systems (POS) to process sales, returns, exchanges, and refunds in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain a balanced cash drawer and report discrepancies immediately to the supervisor.
Product and Service Knowledge:
- Stay informed about product offerings, promotions, and services to better assist customers.
- Communicate any current sales, discounts, or special promotions to customers.
Maintaining Service Area:
- Keep the service area neat, organized, and fully stocked with necessary materials (e.g., bags, receipts, promotional materials).
- Ensure that the checkout or service counter is clean, presentable, and organized.
Inventory and Stock Assistance:
- Assist with inventory management tasks, such as restocking shelves or assisting with stock counts when necessary.
- Ensure products or services are properly displayed and available for customer purchases.
Compliance with Policies:
- Follow company policies and procedures for handling transactions, returns, and exchanges.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism at all times.
- Follow health, safety, and security guidelines to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
Team Collaboration:
- Work with other team members to ensure smooth operation and customer flow, especially during peak times.
- Assist with any additional tasks as directed by supervisors or management.
