Job Summary

The NADS CYL Checker is responsible for performing inspections and maintenance checks on aircraft cylinders as part of the National Aircraft Data Service (NADS) program. This includes ensuring the proper functionality, integrity, and certification of cylinders used in various aircraft systems. The role also involves reviewing and documenting compliance with industry safety standards, maintaining records of inspections, and working closely with other maintenance and engineering staff to ensure safety and performance.

Job Description



  • Cylinder Inspection:



    • Perform detailed inspections of aircraft cylinders, including visual checks, pressure tests, and assessments of structural integrity.

    • Ensure cylinders are free from defects, corrosion, or any other signs of wear that could affect performance or safety.

    • Identify any damaged or non-compliant cylinders and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.




  • Compliance Verification:



    • Verify that all cylinders meet the required safety, operational, and regulatory standards set by aviation authorities (e.g., FAA, EASA, etc.).

    • Ensure that cylinders are properly certified, and documentation is complete for regulatory compliance.




  • Testing and Maintenance:



    • Conduct pressure and functional testing of cylinders to ensure they perform as expected under operational conditions.

    • Coordinate with other maintenance staff to schedule repairs, replacements, or servicing when cylinders are found to be non-compliant or damaged.




  • Documentation and Reporting:



    • Maintain accurate records of all inspections, repairs, and tests performed on aircraft cylinders.

    • Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings, including any corrective actions taken, and submit them to supervisors or regulatory bodies.

    • Update and maintain records of cylinder certifications, expiration dates, and service history.




  • Safety and Quality Assurance:



    • Adhere to all safety protocols and standards to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel involved in the maintenance and inspection process.

    • Follow all relevant procedures for the handling, storage, and disposal of cylinders, ensuring proper safety precautions are taken.




  • Collaboration and Communication:



    • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance teams, and other aviation professionals to resolve any issues found during inspections.

    • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure timely completion of tasks and compliance with operational standards.




  • Continuous Improvement:



    • Stay updated with changes in industry regulations and safety standards related to aircraft cylinders and NADS processes.

    • Recommend improvements to inspection and testing procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.




Required Skills and Qualifications:



  • Proven experience in aircraft maintenance, aviation safety, or cylinder testing and inspection.

  • Strong understanding of aviation safety standards, regulations, and cylinder certification requirements.

  • Ability to perform detailed inspections, tests, and assessments on complex aviation components.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify potential issues in aircraft cylinders.

  • Familiarity with various testing and maintenance equipment used in cylinder inspection.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and documenting inspection findings.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
