Job Summary
The Carpenter/Masonry Technician is responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures and masonry work such as walls, floors, and other essential building components. This role involves a blend of carpentry and masonry skills, working with wood, brick, stone, and concrete. The technician will measure, cut, and shape materials, follow blueprints, and ensure work is completed accurately and according to building codes.
Job Description
- Carpentry Work:
- Construct and install frameworks, flooring, walls, and ceilings using wood and related materials.
- Build custom cabinetry, furniture, and other wooden fixtures.
- Install doors, windows, moldings, and trim, ensuring precise measurements and quality craftsmanship.
- Masonry Work:
- Construct and repair brick, stone, and concrete structures, including walls, foundations, and walkways.
- Mix mortar, lay bricks or stones, and ensure structural integrity in masonry projects.
- Apply finishes such as plaster, stucco, or sealant to masonry work.
- Blueprint Interpretation:
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications to understand project requirements.
- Plan and measure projects accurately, ensuring materials are cut to precise specifications.
- Repairs and Maintenance:
- Perform repairs on both wooden and masonry structures, including replacing damaged boards, stones, or mortar.
- Restore or refurbish wooden and stone features such as decks, stairs, and walls.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all work complies with local building codes and safety regulations.
- Use tools and equipment safely, adhering to safety guidelines to minimize the risk of accidents.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other construction professionals, such as electricians, plumbers, and general contractors, to ensure coordinated progress.
- Communicate effectively with clients to discuss project needs, timelines, and budget.
